A Santa Poem

So I don't have a Bible verse to go with this one...  yet- feel free to comment and leave yours that you think goes with this.  This is a poem that I wrote this Christmas and I thought that I would share.  Merry Christmas to you all - much love and peace to all of you!

The story of Saint Nicholas is one that’s fun to hear
We share it with our children and all those far and near.
Saint Nicholas was a real man that live very long ago
He gave to the sick and needy and those he didn’t know.
He gave with joy, and he gave with a great intent,
To share the love of Jesus everywhere he went.
I’m sure if Saint Nicholas could hear the current story
He would remind us all that it was done solely for God’s glory.
So when you see someone in need, lend a helping hand
And God’s love can make a difference all throughout the land.
And when we see a picture of the jolly old lad
And sing about him seeing us even when we are bad,
Lets remember one thing, that God sees us all the time
I pray Jesus is in your hearts as he is in mine.
We celebrate Christ’s birth on this special day,
A baby sent to earth, all our sins to pay.
The best gift that we can get the year from dear Saint Nicholas
Is to remember to share the love God so freely gave to us.

do I mis-use the Bible?

WOW!   This morning I sat and started to read through Ecclesiastes.   I don’t know if the author of Ecclesiastes, Perhaps King Solomon, had a very sarcastic view on life or if he was just babbling.   But I can definitely see how this book could get a lot of people into trouble if they don’t know the full book or continue to read.   There are verses in there that say things like; eat, drink and enjoy the days on earth because they are meaningless, it is good to enjoy your time on earth and do not worry about anything. To get the full meaning of the book, you need to read it all- the true gems are the last two verses.   This book was written by someone (according to my study Bible) that was near the end of his life, he sees man in pursuit of so many things and vainly pursuing hopes and expectations- but faith teaches him that God has ordered all things according to his own purposes and that we need to accept our limitations.   The last two verses are the wr...

Drawn to Drama

I have always been one of those people that gets over committed.   I just do it – I can’t mentally wrap my head around the concept of saying NO.   They are almost all things that I like and believe in and would love to do, but I just don’t have time for it AND for my family.   I don’t have time to do everything for everyone all the time, but I can’t get my head around that.   Some say it is because I have a servant’s heart, but someone brought to my attention the other day that it might be because I like the attention that being so incredibly busy brings me.   I like having people look at me and say – “wow – look at her go”, or “I don’t know how you do it all”…   Now honestly, I don’t know what one it is, or a combination of the big heart and recognition, but I do know that I need to figure it out.   The Bible says that we are to everything with all our heart and unto the Lord and not unto Man .   This is stated in both Colossians 3:23 and Ephesi...

Making Imperfections Perfect

Recently I was blessed with the opportunity to re-hash Genesis with a group of friends.   We each took a few chapters and summarized those chapters and went through the group.   We covered it all in about 45 minutes.   It was a lot of information to take in, but also fun to hear our friends breathlessly try to fit in everything that they could about the stories that we already knew, into the short few minutes they were given to do this in.   The book of Genesis has an awful lot of drama.   Hearing pieces of it, I thought a soap opera writer couldn’t have done better themselves.   God makes man perfect, but gives us free will – Man sins- Man is thrown out of the Garden of Eden- Man has two sons- One son kills the other son, the world goes down hill.   God sends a flood to kill everything and start over.   He then calls a man who is really really old to follow him.   Abraham has a wife Sarah- Sarah can’t have babies so tells him to ...
