Surrender ALL

God really is a man with a plan, but so often it is hard to say – “I trust you Lord.”  It is hard to give up control of our lives and let something else happen, something potentially wonderful.  When I was younger I went to an amazing camp – it was called Kanakuk Camps- it was actually beyond amazing.  I went to the “K-2” camps the first time and remember waking into it wondering what I had just gotten myself into.  My older sister and I were going to be there for 2 weeks and it was a little overwhelming.  The counselors were WAY too bubbly and sweet and we knew no one in our cabins, but by the end of the 2nd day, we were settling in and beginning to enjoy ourselves.  We enjoyed ourselves so much that we both insisted on going back the next year- and I went for a MONTH!  They have camps for all ages, but the ones that I went to was the one specifically set up for teens.

During our time spent hiking, fishing, blobbing, singing crazy songs, competing, playing volleyball etc…, we had meetings at night.  Usually these were called K-Life.  These meetings were what changed my world.  Besides the fact that I learned about drugs, alcohol, how to stay pure until marriage, creation vs. evolution etc…, I also, more importantly, learned how to give my entire life to God.  Joe White (the director of the camp and truly amazing man of God!), equated our lives to a newspaper.  He explained to us that we have a lifestyles section, a sports section, a current events section, a comic section, and a news section.  Now, this was back in the day when people actually read newspapers and didn’t just check their most current electronic devise for the news.  He explained how he would read one section of the paper and then hand it over to his wife, when she was done, she would hand it back, but never would either one of them have the entire paper, they would get the entire paper, but rarely would they posses it all at one time.

Joe explained that God wants us to give Him our ENTIRE newspaper.  We can’t sit on it and keep some of it to ourselves because maybe there is a story in there that God wouldn’t want to read, or an offensive comic.  God wants us to say, “Lord, you want to see my newspaper, here it is- all of it.”  Don’t hold a section of your lives back from God.  Maybe that is the part that He really was looking for and could really use and really wants to read, but we wont give it to Him because we are too protective of it.  We don’t want to share the sports section because we are doing fine on our own.  We don’t want to share the entertainment section because we watch things that aren’t pleasing to Him and don’t want Him to convict us of it.  He wants the whole paper.  He bought the whole paper.

If you went to the store and bought a paper and it was missing a section, you would be very disappointed.  You would probably go back and say, I paid for the ENTIRE paper, but I didn’t get it all.  When Jesus died on the cross for our sins, He died on the cross for ALL our life, not just certain parts of it.  He bought our freedom with His blood and it isn’t very fair to claim that some of it is still our own when he paid such a terrible price for it.  He took our sins, our imperfections, the things that we are embarrassed to tell the world about, and he bore that and took it and said NO MORE- never again – your life is mine if you accept me.  Your life is what I want, what I suffered and died for.  Praise the Lord that Jesus was no ordinary man serving no ordinary God- He was serving the Most HIGH and didn’t stay dead, and that is how we know that our lives were purchased.  Because He Rose, we know that He IS the Savior, the Messiah and our Redeemer.  We know that He could do everything that he says that He can do!

Is there a section of your life that you are holding back?  A section of the newspaper that you pulled out before you gave it to God?  Give it to Him!  He deserves it.  He paid for it – He wants to be part of you as a whole- not just in pieces and parts, but a WHOLE.  When you do – I promise you, things will be amazing – life will change- doors will open and love will abound.

Balancing

This past year, I have been learning a lot about balancing the books.  I am blessed with an amazing husband who has always taken care of the financial aspects of or marriage, including me in on important decisions and making things work and helping me to understand; but when you run your own (confidential) business, you have to do it yourself.  I would say I was doing okay, but it is HARD to get the right balance when you aren't used to it.  I have to be very diligent and stay on top of things or I have to go back and try to correct things and remember things.  It is really a challenge.  I am NOT a numbers or math person.   Then I began thinking about life in general, how it is difficult sometimes to manage and balance the times in life that are very busy or more challenging.  How often do we just let things slide and then go back and try to fix them later? During my reading of Isaiah 40 this morning, I was reminded that God is better at balance than anyone out ther

Daily Bread

I have a dog.  He is cute , but he is still a dog.  That means that he is reliant on me.  He likes me no matter what, If I am not around him, he flips out a little and has anxiety.  If others try to claim him or take care of him when I'm not around, he growls and barks at them.  My dog's name is Spike .  He is a Yorkie.  I promised my husband if he got me a girlie dog, I would name it something masculine so he wouldn't have to go outside and yell fru fru when calling our dog.  Spike knows that I take care of him.  He knows that my husband and I are the two that take care of him the most.  The kids try to play with him and he runs to us with the toys.  The kids try to take him out and he only comes back when one of us calls him.  He knows our voice and respects our voice.  He also is needy.  Like he relies on us to take him outside to do his business and to feed him and give him water.  Spike will let us know when he is out of food or water, he goes to his dish and bumps

The Easter Story with M&Ms

I am preparing for my oldest daughter's school party for Easter.  I was racking my brain trying to figure out a cheap, but awesome party favor to give to everyone.  One of the things that I love about her going to a Christian School is I can do things like this. I looked at all the Easter M&M Poems out there, and didn't really like them, they didn't flow quite right or, which may have bothered me more, they didn't go in the order they set out in the beginning of the poem.  We have a discount grocery store in town and they had large bags of M&Ms on sale for $1.80 so I bought a bunch and will be splitting them up and putting them with this poem that I made up instead.  It is definitely inspired by the Christmas one that is floating around out there and a few of the other Easter ones- so I can't take credit for the creativity of the M W 3 and E idea.... The TRUE Easter story isn't about a bunny - it is about a Salvation - about a Savior that died on the
